Happy 2nd Birthday!!!

We celebrated Cole's 2nd birthday a couple of weeks ago and it was such a fun day for him and us. The theme of his party was MU vs KU in honor of the big game that happened the week after his party on the day of his actual birthday.

First Haircut....finally.

Well, it took awhile, but we finally took Cole to have his first haircut. He did so great, and just sat there in the chair like such a big boy. His hair looks great, but I think that he aged 5 years by the time he got out of the chair :(

Neewollah!

Scott's dad lives in a small town in Kansas where they have a halloween festival every year called Neewollah (halloween spelled backwards). One of the events every year is a kiddie parade where hundreds of little kids get dressed up and march down main street in a "parade". We wanted to go down this year and have Cole participate, and since he is so little, we knew that we would have to walk with him. Since we were gonna be there anyway, we figured that we might as well dress up with him, lol. The costumes and the "Mystery Machine" all turned out really well, and we all had a great time!

New Funny

So Cole has this new thing that he does that just cracks us up. If he is playing or working with something and it doesn't do what he wants, he likes to tell it "NO!" So if he is trying to get on the couch to read a book and the book slides off while he is climbing up, he points at the book and says "no book!". My favorite is when he is trying to stand his plastic animals up and they fall over (pretty common given their tiny legs) and he starts yelling "no ostrich, no cow!". Hmmmmmm....I wonder where he gets this?

Zoo Fun!

Last weekend we took a little trip to the zoo with Cole. We couldn't have asked for better weather, and we had a great time seeing all the animals!

Cheese!

At Cole's school during the Summer they have outdoor water play a couple of times a week, so each child is required to bring water shoes. Since it is the end of the Summer, we brought home all of his stuff the other night and he decided that he wanted to wear his "wagger shoes" around the house (that is water shoes to you and me, lol). That was funny enough, but then he started wearing his bib around his neck as if it were a cape. I thought that it was so cute so I went to get the camera and as soon as he saw it, he started yelling "cheese! cheese!" without any prompting. I wonder if I take too many pictures, hmmm.....

Animal day at Deanna Rose

Cole is VERY into animals right now, so last Saturday we took him to Deanna Rose in Overland Park. He had such good time running from place to place and kept asking for "more animals". I think that his favorite places would have to be the chicken coop (we were confused too, lol) and the dairy barn. He loved milking the cow and saying "Hi Pippi!", which was the very large dairy cow that was sleeping in the barn. The most exciting part of the day was when we got to hear the rooster crowing and Cole did his best imitation, "cock-cock-coo!!!" It is pretty close to the real thing, and cracks us up every time.

Slide...

Last Sunday we were bored just hanging around the house, so we decided to take Cole to a local park. He had a great time running around and playing on all of the slides. It looked like so much fun that Scott decided to join him!

Independence Zoo

This past weekend we went to visit Scott's dad, stepmom and sister in Independence, KS. It was a really good time, especially since Scott's brother and his family came down for the weekend as well. It was a really hot couple of days, but we had a great time swimming, and on Sunday we went to the little zoo that they have there. Cole got to see some animals and play some on the playground. He was kinda tired, but he still played as hard as he could.

Life is Good...

It has been soooooo hot the past couple of weeks that we broke down and bought Cole one of those silly little pools that are only about 4 feet wide. We figured that this would be a great way for him to stay cool and play outside even when it is 95 degrees. Last night was our first night, and he LOVED it. I think that his facial expressions tell the story better than I can.

Bike Parade

Our neighborhood holds a 4th of July bike parade each year where kids decorate their bikes, etc and parade around our pool. This year we decided that we wanted our buddy to participate and since he can't ride a bike, we used the next best thing, his wagon. The little man on the right is Cole's friend Jaxson, and they looked so great cruising around in their patriotic ride. The really fun thing is that they won "Most Patriotic" and both got a $5 gift card to Dairy Queen, yummy!

It's just a box....

Recently we decided that it was time to switch out our appliances, and go from white to stainless steel. I was very excited because I have been wanting to do this for quite a while now. However, I think that Cole has actually gotten the most enjoyment out of the new purchases, because our dishwasher was delivered in his new favorite toy-THE BOX!

Every night when we come home from work the first thing that he does is go sit in the box and play with the things that he keeps in there like plastic spoons, books, tools, etc. He has even taken to laying in there with a pillow and a blanket sometimes. It cracks us up, and I guess that he just considers it his own little fort.

Pimp My Ride...

The other night Cole was sitting on his 4 wheeler eating an icey pop, and he seemed to be dropping more than he was eating. Needless to say his little "ride" was pretty messy when he stood up, so Scott and I grabbed some paper towels to clean it off. Apparently he thought that what we were doing looked like a lot of fun, because he spent the next 20 minutes or so (and about half a roll of paper towels) cleaning his 4 wheeler. He would wipe it down, go to the trash can and throw the towel away, and then go back for another towel. It was pretty cute, and he is so helpful!

Yesterday was Avery's birthday party and they held it at a place called Tunnel Voyage. They have all kinds of slides and tunnels and games for kids to play. Thankfully they had an area designated for kids under the age of 4, and one of Cole's favorite things to do was play in the ball pit. He was very funny to watch, and he had such a good time throwing and squirming in the balls.

Deanna Rose

On Saturday Cole and I went to Deanna Rose with our friends Chris, Connor and Ashlin Rape. We had such a good time looking at all of the animals and playing with our friends. Deanna Rose has a whole dairy section where we got to get up close and personal with some cows. We tried so hard to get them all to smile when they were sitting on the cow bench, but they weren't very cooperative, lol. In the picture of Cole kneeling down, that is a great big turkey that was just roaming around. He was pretty fascinated by it, but didn't want it to get any closer... The last two pictures are of Cole & Ashlin, and they were so cute. They were holding hands and looking at the flowers, and then Cole gave Ashlin a hug. We were a little short on time Saturday, so we are really looking forward to going back sometime when we can see all of the animals and fun stuff at Deanna Rose.

I hope that this picture is clear enough to see just how funny Cole is. Last night it was pretty cold outside, but that did not stop him from wanting to take his nightly wagon ride. We wanted to make sure that he didn't get too cold, so we bundled him up in his winter coat, hat, mittens and even a little blanket! Needless to say, the cold didn't bother him too much, because we kept walking for about 45 minutes and he smiled the whole way.
(If you click on the picture it will blow it up some so that you can
see it better.)

I Love the Outdoors!

Yeah!!!! Summer is finally coming, and Cole could not be happier. Every night when we get home from work we have to go outside and take a wagon ride before he drives around in his little car. We are having so much fun with him, and he is really turning out to be quite a little "man"!

Little Friends!

This is Cole's friend Jaxson who lives up the street from us. He came down to play last night, and the boys had such a good time! They played with Cole's fire truck, swept out our garafe with brooms, and threw the soccer ball around. We are so lucky that the little man has freinds who live so close!

Bubbles!

When Cole had his tubes put in his ears 4 weeks ago, he had about a 3 word vocabulary that consisted of mama, dada and yeah! Now that he can hear, he seems to be learning new words all the time, and he is getting really good at repeating words that we say to him. When he took his bath last night we added some bubbles to the water. He loved them, and he would even say "bubble".

A clean house is a happy house...

This picture was taken this past weekend at Scott's mom's house, and it cracks us up. This vacuum was a gift for Cole's first birthday from his Uncle Chris, and he loves it! Vacuuming has become one of his favorite things to do, and he knows exactly how it works. In fact, he loves it so much that every time Scott vacuums he has to hold Cole the entire time. The only guess that we have is that he likes to imitate the things that he sees us do, and he doesn't comprehend yet that these things aren't fun...

Rub a Dub Dub...

We have been trying to work with Cole lately to take a bath all by himself, but he always gets freaked out about the time that you pour water on his head. Sooooooo....every time Cole takes a bath, one of us ends up in the tub with him, lol. He seems to do fine like that, and he loves the water and all of his toys!

Happy Valentine's Day!

This is Cole getting ready to go to school on Valentine's Day. I'm not sure if you can read his shirt very clearly, but it says "I stole Mommy's heart".

So many books...

One of Cole's favorite things to do right now is reading his books, and since we found him an Elmo loveseat, he now has a favorite place to sit and read them.

Welcome to our blog!

Hi everyone,
Since Scott and I have a lot of family and friends who live out of town, we are taking a cue from many of our local friends and starting a blog about our family. If you really read between those lines, you will see that we are starting a blog about Cole, and every now and then we will throw something in there about Scott and I :).
Cole is growing so quickly, and is changing and learning new things every day. We know that there are lots of people who would like to be able to see him more and know what he is doing, so here goes!
