Cutting master

Last night we spent a little time working on Cole's cutting with scissors. He is doing such a great job of holding the paper the "safest" way, and his cuts are getting so nice and straight. It's a lot of fun to watch him because he has such a good time working on it and he wears the same "concentration face" that Scott always wears when he is really focused on something.

Update!

We have officially reached 30 weeks, so in 10 weeks or less, Cole will be welcoming his new baby brother Cooper. He is very excited, and we just know that he is going to be the best big brother EVER! Doctors appts are going well, and it looks like everything is exactly as it should be. We still have lots to do to get ready, and it seems like time is just flying by!

Christmas!

Christmas was so much fun this year! We had lots of places to go and lots of people to see and Cole loved it all. We spent Christmas Eve here in Lee's Summit, headed to St Louis for Christmas Day and then on the Independence, KS on New Year's Day. Cole got lots of neat stuff, and he picked out his own gifts for everyone this year, which he really enjoyed doing. It was fun to watch him as well, and we could all take notes on how efficiently he shopped :)
Even though he loved all of his gifts, I think that Cole's favorite part of Christmas was the actual "opening" of the gifts. When he finished opening his own gifts, he went around the room and helped everyone else rip off all of their paper. When we got home Christmas Eve, we wrote our letter to Santa and then put out milk and cookies for him before we headed off to bed.
I think that it was almost as exciting for us just to watch him Christmas morning playing with all of his new things.

Gingerbread Train

We thought that it would be fun this year to make a gingerbread house with Cole, but in the end we decided that a gingerbread "train" was more up his alley. It wasn't perfect, but we had a lot of fun trying, lol.

Santa Claus

We are happy to say that Cole did MUCH better this year with Santa. When we got there to see him, he told me that he wanted to just "look at him" for a minute. We did, and then he seemed just fine with the guy in the red suit. He even sat by himself once and told Santa what he wanted for Chirstmas-SUCCESS!

School Christmas Program

This year for Cole's school Christmas program his class did a song about elves so they all wore little elf ears while performing. He looked so cute up there with his class, but unfortunately he got a little shy and wasn't a fan of singing in front of everyone.

The Big 0-3!

In November we celebrated Cole's 3rd birthday, and it is so hard to believe that he is already 3-yikes! We had a lot of fun because not only did his cousins from here get to come and celebrate (and all the adults), but his cousins from St Louis also got to be here since they were already in town for Thanksgiving. We had a little party, and though he LOVED blowing out the candles, he still doesn't care much for actually eating the cake. After everyone had cleared out from the weekend, we went to Chuck E Cheese's with just Scott, Cole & I and had a GREAT TIME playing all the games.
The really big story about him turning 3 was that he came to us that morning and said that he was ready to throw away his binkies AND he no longer wanted to wear pullups at night. We were cool with the pullup thing because it had been a LONG time since he'd had an accident overnight, but we were a little sketchy about throwing away the binks. Daddy was smart and lined the trash can before he tossed them-just in case. After a few hours of playing freely (and mommy shedding some tears about how big he was getting) he settled down for nap, and rethought the whole "no binky" thing, lol. After a little while of mommy trying to talk to him, daddy said that if he wanted to get them from the trash, that was fine, but he had to get them all on his own. Needless to say...we still have the binks when we sleep. Oh well! There are worse things :)

1st Dentist Appt!

This post is a little late, but Cole had his first dentist appt a few months ago and we are happy to report that he is cavity free!!! He is doing great with brushing his teeth (although he is not always a fan), and he did an incredible job at the dentist. He just sat there in the chair like a big kiddo and let the hygienist do her thing. Great job Buddy!

Halloween & Neewollah

So we decided to head back down to Scott's dad's for Neewollah this year so that Cole (and Scott & I) could walk in the kiddie parade again. We had so much fun last year, and since Scott's sister was up for Queen this year, we thought that it was the perfect year to go. Since we were walking with him, Scott and I decided on dressing up again (okay, I decided, and Scott was like "sure"). This year we chose The Cat in the Hat, and it turned out great! Cole had a lot more fun throwing candy this year, and he looked great as The Cat in the Hat (and mommy and daddy did a pretty good job as Thing 1 & Thing 2, lol)! The weekend was lots of fun, and Scott actually drove down during the week for a night to watch the Queen's coronation, which was especially cool since Cole's Aunt B was crowned Queen!
